Trent & Theresa's Coastal Renovation

A stunning transformation your eyes won't believe

It was once described by the locals as the 'worst house on the street'. After careful planning & detail, it's now an eye catching property on both the interior & exterior scale. Take a look at how this incredible transformation took place.

The Warren’s first approached us in 2018 where they had finally found their first home right by the beach. The home had history as an old refinery home & needed work to fit this family of 5.  The client engaged R and J architecture to create an extension onto this home and remove walls changing the entrance and kitchen. Sarah Burrows Design loved this opportunity and Sarah site measured the home ready to plan the families chef style kitchen.

The outcome is perfect. We love every aspect of our new space and couldn't be happier with our new home.

Project Details

Based in the coastal suburbs of Ruakaka, this 3 bedroom home had lots of potential when the couple set their eyes on it. With the help of Sarah Burrows Design they have created a welcoming, open & bright haven, with features all around the property.

Stainless tops, great appliances and white cabinets was the brief for the kitchen along with a coffee station to house the beautiful coffee machine. The kitchen features a mixture of textures with the tiles & timber, and a pop of subtle colour with the rose gold handles. The open plan creates a great space to entertain while cooking, and the large bi-fold doors make it easy to keep an eye on the kids playing outside, or allow for the coastal breeze.

Selecting the right bathroomware was easy for Sarah Burrows Design and the freestanding bath was a feature in itself. Designing tile layouts, providing tiles and trades, colour schemes and in depth information on the right products for their family is part of the process while working with us. The large windows allowed the light to bounce around this space, and create a relaxing & indulgent bathroom. Sarah Burrows Design extended the clients & architects vision, and was always ready and available to offer advice given Sarah and Kims renovation experience.

The colours are neutral in both the kitchen & bathroom, but was carefully thought out for the interior and exterior connection.  The cedar and strong contrasts of the outdoor shower are a big feature, with the chevron tiles in the entry way making for a unique welcome to the home.

In Sarah's Words

“I am thrilled with the kitchen, we worked to a budget and still kept the kitchen to fit in with the home. We used visual aspects such as stainless steel floating shelves, a fully tiled wall and laser edge cupboard fronts with a plywood benchtop to match. I hope Trent & Theresa enjoy this space with their family as much as we do."
